For the editing of my draft video, we decided to use VideoPad as although we used iMovie in our preliminary task we wanted to experience a different type of editing technology. We filmed on a combination of the Canon 5D Mark III and the Canon 5D Mark II. For the lenses we used a variety of: Canon 17-40mm f/4 L, Canon 24-70mm f/4 L IS, Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS. This was all filmed on a SanDisk Ultra PLUS 16G memory card using a Pure Media USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader to download each of the clips to my Mac. To add the audio, we converted the song ‘Take Me to Church’ (Sofia Karlburg version) to an MP4 file and added this to Video Pad and whilst referring to our storyboard timings, we cropped each clip accordingly. We did this each day of filming simply leaving blank parts for areas we were yet to film which was beneficial for the construction of the product as it meant our editing was done as quickly as possible meaning we could gain feedback from our target audience and teachers quickly. Another editing element used was how we unlinked the audio from the sequence clips of the artist and/or dancers as there was background noise used in our filming and we only wanted to hear the main song. We did consider transitions but the only one we included was having the clip fade to black at the end of the song as this was a convention used by many artists shown in our research so it re-establishes the professional element in our music video. An element used due to unexpected missing footage was the text tool to fill in the gap that we failed to film whilst filming our draft music video. This shaped our planning as it ensured myself and Steph planned which shots we were going to film on which day having a colour coordinated sheet for our last day pf filming. Although this technology gave us a good insight into a different type of editing software, we chose to edit our final video on iMovie as we were more confident with this and felt this would be more effective in creating a realistic and professional media product.
